Penland School of Craft Workshop

This body of work was created during a summer workshop at Penland School of Craft with Naomi Dalglish and Micheal Hunt of Bandana Pottery. During this time, I was fully immersed in considering all aspects of "The Whole Pot." From using traditional foot-wedging techniques, sourcing natural clay from North Carolina, to learning a variety wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques like a Kurinuki. A Kurinuki is a Japanese process of carving froma solid block of clay to obtain the interior shape. I had the opportunity to experiment with locally sources slips, a variety surface treatments, as well as participate in a 32-hour wood-firing.
